In 1964, Mencer was told by doctors that he would be blind within months. He was given a piece of hair from Sister Miriam Teresa Demjanovich and once he received it, he was able to see clearly. Mencer's miracle is one among others elevating Sister Miriam Teresa to be beatified Oct. 4, 2014 at the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart in Newark.
